Springwater School is one of four special schools in North Yorkshire which provide specialist support services on behalf of the local authority. We provide support on an outreach basis to primary and secondary schools in the Harrogate, Tadcaster and Selby areas.
v Specialist Support for Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Complex Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (CLDD) – The SLD/CLDD specialist support service at Springwater School works with mainstream primary and secondary schools that have pupils with SLD and/or CLDD on roll. Our purpose is to support schools to develop their inclusive practice. We provide specialist advice and training to school staff to enhance learning, social inclusion and secure better outcomes for pupils with SLD/CLDD in mainstream schools. Support is provided by qualified practitioners who have detailed knowledge and up-to-date experience in working with pupils with SLD/CLDD.
v North Yorkshire Communication Aid Partnership (NYCAP) – This NYCAP service offers specialist support and advice for pupils who may benefit from alternative and augmentative forms of communication (AAC). NYCAP is a multi-disciplinary team made up of teachers and speech and language therapists. Its primary purpose is to provide advice and training, and to make assessments and recommendations relating to the use of both low-tech and hi-tech communication aids for pupils in local schools.
